Planning a realism tattoo

Black and grey realism uses tonal contrast to describe form. In Zencat’s portfolio, this includes classical faces, eyes, musical subjects and large mythological compositions. A good consultation starts with your reference, the body placement and the size needed for the detail.

Realism tattoos depend on the reference, the scale and how the image follows the body. Zencat’s artist, Yao, is a Chinese-speaking tattoo artist trained at the China Academy of Art, with a background in game art. Consultations are available in English and Mandarin.

Bring clear references and a rough size in centimetres. We can discuss the focal point, how the design fits the body, and whether the project needs more than one session.

Sydney guest-spot enquiries are welcome. Zencat does not currently have a permanent Sydney studio. A host studio and dates must be arranged and confirmed before any appointment can be booked.
